Second Parking Attendent Disciplined in Meter Investigation

Jon Hughes will keep his job, but accepted a demotion and four weeks of unpaid leave.

A parking enforcement officer was demoted and given four weeks of unpaid leave, the second punishment this week for two employees who allegedly turned a blind eye to certain parking enforcement in town in exchange for goods., according to a report in The Princeton Packet.

Princeton Administrator Bob Bruschi told The Packet that Jon Hughes will be reassigned to his former position as a parking garage attendant.

Earlier this week, the newspaper reported that Parking Enforcement Officer Chris Boutote, a former Borough police officer turned civilian employee of the Police Department, had been terminated.

Hughes received a lesser penalty because he improperly dismissed a parking ticket as Boutote's request, Bruschi told The Packet. Boutote agreed that any future disciplinary action would result in termination, Bruschi said.

Both attendants were suspended in late September.
