This Week: Warm Temps, McCarter Block Party & More

Here's what's going on in and around Princeton this week:

Today there will be a slight chance of showers after 8 a.m., then mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 80s. 

Tuesday: Parents and children ages preschool to 8 are invited to read and pick pears at Terhune Orchards in Lawrenceville, Preregistration requested. 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m.  

Wednesday: McCarter Theater Block party will feature music, activities for children, food, prizes, and more. The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, featuring high school and college jazz musicians from New Jersey and Philadelphia, will perform. On stage tours, education class demonstrations, and more. 5-8 p.m.

Thursday: The Junior Mack Band will perform a free concert in the Princeton Shopping Center courtyard from 6-8 p.m. The Junior Mack Band, a recent inductee into the Blues Hall of Fame, explores the world of traditional blues with excursions into jazz, rock, soul and gospel. 

Friday: Princeton Public Library presents a staged reading of Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuka. Separated from his family by war, a young refugee calling himself "Anon" encounters a wild series of people -- some kind, some dangerous -- as he searches for a new home in the U.S. From a sinister one-eyed butcher to beguiling barflies to a sweatshop, Anon must navigate a chaotic, ever-changing landscape. Featuring local teens who have spent the week studying The Odyssey and preparing to perform this play. Community Room, 2-3 p.m. & 6-7 p.m.
