Also, after 17 years in the ground, the cicadas may have absorbed various pesticides and God knows what other toxins that can be washed into the soil after showers, heavy rains, snow and ice melt offs. As it is, we seem to be playing Russian Roulette with many of the fresh and packaged foods that we buy from grocery stores: E. Coli, salmonella, foodborne botulism, mercury, bovine spongiform encephalopathy tainted beef, listeria, shigella, toxoplasma gondii, staphylococcus, norovirus, hepatitis A, campylobacter jejuni, etc., ad nauseam. You practically have to wear a hazmat suit while handling raw chicken.

B.C. has all the compassion and human empathy of a pit viper. Oh wait, that's an insult to pit vipers.

"The" is overused, let's get rid of "the," too. Pundit is the vocabulary cop, attention must be paid or else. Maybe we can call the Atlantic Ocean the BIG AO or THAT OCEAN or HEY YOU or THE LAKE or THE STREAM, if that meets with his majesty's approval (i.e., Pundit)? Here are some other tired words or phrases: liberal bias, liberal controlled media, politically correct, socialism, etc.

From factcheck.org: Q: Will the IRS hire 16,500 new agents to enforce the health care law?
A: No. The law requires the IRS mostly to hand out tax credits, not collect penalties. The claim of 16,500 new agents stems from a partisan analysis based on guesswork and false assumptions, and compounded by outright misrepresentation. [snip] In any case, the bill signed into law (on page 131) specifically prohibits the IRS from using the liens and levies commonly used to collect money owed by delinquent taxpayers, and rules out any criminal penalties for individuals who refuse to pay the tax or those who don’t obtain coverage. That doesn’t leave a lot for IRS enforcers to do.

Q: Will I go to jail or be harassed by the IRS if I don’t have health coverage?
    A: No. That’s a MYTH.
In 2014 Americans (except Native Americans, Inmates or those with religious objections) will be required to have health insurance or pay an annual penalty. True. However, the law prevents the IRS from using levies, liens or seizing property. Additionally, the IRS cannot impose criminal penalties (such as time in jail).

Q: I heard there was going to be a 10% tax increase across the board. Is that true?
A: No. That is a MYTH.

Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for either Medicaid or the new tax credits that will help pay for private insurance. "This is a 'government takeover' of the health care system"
This snappy talking point is used by Republicans repeatedly to bash Obama's crowning legislative achievement, but it is simply not true. In fact, PolitiFact.com labeled this claim the 2010 "lie of the year," but that has not stopped lawmakers from making this claim. It will surely be heard again on the House floor during the repeal debate.

So what happens when the folks in the private sector lose their job, then lose their health insurance? COBRA is very expensive and of a limited time frame. In this recession, it's hard to find a job that supplies health benefits. In between jobs, you could develop a terrible illness or have a bad accident and then go bankrupt from all the medical expenses. Obamacare will help to alleviate some of these problems.

So an article about Teacher Appreciation Week turns into a cesspool of vile, malicious screeds against those supposedly evil overpaid Marxist Leninist socialist eugenics-loving teachers who only teach about 5 months out of a year, according to some of the geniuses posting comments here. Teachers pay for their benefits (pension and healthcare), it's called deferred compensation; over the past 20 years teachers have put billions into the pension fund. The pension and the health care are not some extra gifts. It's pointless arguing with anti-teacher ideologues and the tin-foil hatted conspiracy theorists.

Judging from some of the nasty, vicious, ignorant, juvenile and snarky comments (lies) here: Never mind Hate Teacher Week, what we really have is Swift boat and Demonize public school teachers' year every year and into infinity, at least in the USA. I guess the folks who constantly spit on teachers and demean what they do are only referring to public school teachers? Or do they also hate and loathe private school teachers, charter school teachers, religious school teachers? There is a definite war against public school teachers and public school education that is aided and abetted by the right wing media, NJ 101.5, hate wing radio and politicians like Christie.
