Princeton St. Patrick's Day Party to Benefit Family of Fallen EMT

The Alchemist & Barrister in Princeton will donate proceeds to help the family of Michael Kenwood, who died during Hurricane Irene.

  Men, are your beards getting long yet? It's only days away from the end of The Alchemist & Barrister's Annual LongBeard Benefit at the pub's St. Patrick's Day Party on Sunday March 17 beginning at 5 p.m.  Beards will be measured with prizes and bragging rights awarded for the Longest Beard, Ugliest Beard and Best Looking Beard. The evening of festivities benefit a local charity and this year's recipients will be the wife and daughter of the late Michael Kenwood. LongBeard Contest to Benefit Fallen EMT's Family

The festivities will benefit the wife and daughter of the late Michael Kenwood, who lost his life in a rescue attempt during Hurricane Irene in 2011.

  Gentlemen, stow your razors and get ready to grow a beard in a good cause.  The Alchemist & Barrister's Annual LongBeard Benefit gets underway on February 1, 2013. It's the first in a series of shamrock-starred events, leading up to the landmark pub's St. Patrick's Day Party on March 17th. So how do you sign up? Just head over to The Alchemist & Barrister, clean shaven, on February 1 and donate $25 to enter the competition. The community gathered on Tuesday to celebrate Princeton EMT Michael Kenwood on the one year anniversary of his death during Hurricane Irene on Aug. 28, 2011.

  The community gathered on Tuesday to remember and honor Michael Kenwood, the volunteer EMT and rescue technician who died exactly one year ago, on Aug. 28, 2011, while attempting a swift water rescue during Hurricane Irene.  The memorial service was held at 11 a.m. at Greenway Meadows Park, 275 Rosedale Road in Princeton. There were remembrances of Kenwood and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad dedicated a park bench in his memory.  “The squad wanted to do something a little more in-depth, to do something that marks the one-year anniversary of Michael's death," PFARS President Peter Simon told Patch recently. Kenwood died during an attempted swift-water rescue during Hurricane Irene in August, 2011.

  The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad is planning two upcoming events to honor Michael Kenwood, the volunteer EMT and rescue technician who died nearly a year ago while attempting a swift water rescue during Hurricane Irene.  The first event is a memorial service on the one-year anniversary of Kenwood’s death, on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Princeton EMT Michael Kenwood Honored With Jefferson Award

Kenwood died while attempting a water rescue during Hurricane Irene in August, 2011.

  Michael Kenwood, the 39-year-old Princeton EMT who died in the line of duty during Hurricane Irene, was one of 20 outstanding New Jersey volunteers recognized with the prestigious Governor's Jefferson Award at a recent ceremony at the Newark Museum.  "The volunteers we’re honoring tonight are nothing short of inspirational," New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno said in a statement. "From raising money so amputees can get prosthetics to a minister who lives with the homeless to help them become self-sustaining to a gentleman who overcame a handicap so he can drive homebound seniors to their appointments to an EMT who gave his life during Hurricane Irene, these volunteers, and many others, have set examples for us to follow."
