DOT Commissioner: We Need Feedback Quickly On Jughandle Idea

"There is a lot happening here, we've got a lot of corporate folks here and new folks coming into the region. At some point, traffic is going to be a detriment, if it's not already."

  New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner James Simpson wants residents and elected officials to weigh in quickly on the conceptual plan to ease traffic along Route 1 in West Windsor and Plainsboro.  "If we can get this (project) into the (federal transportation) program, if everyone buys into it, it will be a Herculean task," Simpson said. "So the message that I want to deliver to everybody here is get on board quickly or say no quickly." Simpson spoke to a packed crowd at a breakfast meeting the Nassau Inn on Wednesday, hosted by the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce.  "This region is so critical to the Einstein Alley," Simpson said. SUV Split in Half After Hitting Tree on I-95

The driver survived the crash, which was reported at 2:25 p.m., about a half-hour after more than a half-dozen people were hurt in a different collision between a small bus and another vehicle on Route 1.

  A car was split in half after it collided with another vehicle, veered off Interstate 95 and slammed into a tree on Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence. Amazingly, the car’s female driver survived the crash and is expected to recover from her injuries, police said. In a separate accident, reported about a half-hour earlier today, more than a half-dozen people were hurt when a small bus loaded with senior citizens collided with another vehicle on Route 1 North near Carnegie Road. The accident on Interstate 95 south occurred between the Route 1 and Princeton Pike interchanges. Brio Tuscan Grille Approved for Quaker Bridge Mall

Plans for the new upscale 7,431-square-foot, 275-seat Italian restaurant at the mall on Route 1 have been approved by the Lawrence Township Planning Board.

  Plans for a new upscale Italian restaurant – Brio Tuscan Grille – at Quaker Bridge Mall were approved Monday, Jan. 14)by the Lawrence Township Planning Board. The new eatery will be built onto the exterior of the mall, along the Route 1 side, between the J.C. Penney department store and the Cheesecake Factory restaurant that opened last September. Brio is part of an Ohio-based chain that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and operates more than 100 restaurants around the country. The nearest Brio is at Freehold Raceway Mall. Others can be found in Cherry Hill, Marlton and Wayne. The interior of Brio’s new restaurant in Lawrence Township will occupy 7,431-square feet, with seating for 220 patrons.
