Give Blood, Win Cool Prizes

The blood drive will happen downtown on Wednesday, May 8.

  Looking for a way to give back, raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims and enter to win cool prizes?  Next week is your chance, when Princeton Police host a blood drive at the corner of Nassau and Witherspoon Streets on Wednesday, May 8 from 3-7 p.m.  As an added bonus, police will block off free parking on Nassau Street (Princeton University side) for donors.  Those who want to donate either blood or platelets at the Community Blood Council of New Jersey's bloodmobile should bring a photo I.D, eat four hours before donating and drink plenty of water.  Each donor will receive a T-shirt and be entered into a raffle to win Trenton Thunder tickets and gift cards to local businesses.  Walk-ins are welcome, but those who wish to make …

Princeton St. Patrick's Day Party to Benefit Family of Fallen EMT

The Alchemist & Barrister in Princeton will donate proceeds to help the family of Michael Kenwood, who died during Hurricane Irene.

  Men, are your beards getting long yet? It's only days away from the end of The Alchemist & Barrister's Annual LongBeard Benefit at the pub's St. Patrick's Day Party on Sunday March 17 beginning at 5 p.m.  Beards will be measured with prizes and bragging rights awarded for the Longest Beard, Ugliest Beard and Best Looking Beard. The evening of festivities benefit a local charity and this year's recipients will be the wife and daughter of the late Michael Kenwood. LongBeard Contest to Benefit Fallen EMT's Family

The festivities will benefit the wife and daughter of the late Michael Kenwood, who lost his life in a rescue attempt during Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Princeton Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive Raises More Than $36,000

  Local Princeton businesses raised more than $36,000 for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts on its day of local shopping on Nov. 20, JM Group President and fundraiser organizer Jack Morrison has announced.  “We are grateful to all of the local businesses who helped support this effort and are proud to be part of such a giving community,” Morrison said.  The Princeton Business Community launched the Princeton Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive on Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to midnight. That day customers were invited to shop and dine locally at participating businesses in the Princeton region. Housing Initiatives of Princeton is a non-profit that offers those in need a hand up, not a handout.

Inside, William and Joanna Storrar hosted nearly three-dozen people for an evening of English High Tea, auction items and a screening of the much-anticipated premiere of Season 3 of PBS’s Masterpiece Theatre’s megahit television show, “Downton Abbey.” Visitors, many in the style of English dress circa 1920, stepped into the world of the hit television show. Princeton Chef Fundraiser Brings in More Than $35,000 for Hurricane Victims

All of the money will be donated to the American Red Cross, which is leading the relief effort after Hurricane Sandy.

  A weekend fundraiser spearheaded by Princeton chefs raised more than $35,000 for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. With all food, chef time, liquor and services donated for the event, the $125 and $250 ticket sales went directly to the American Red Cross, along with the proceeds of several items for the live auction, said event co-chair Holly Schade of Hopewell. Schade co-chaired the event with Teresa Danko. “It was a great event,” said Chef Josh Thomsen of Agricola, one of the organizers of the Sunday night soiree at Bedens Brook Club in Skillman. “Everybody was local and it was a true sense of community.
