Friday Bake Sale to Benefit PFARS

Princeton Community Housing residents give back in appreciation.

Seniors at Elm Court and Harriet Bryan House, the Princeton Community Housing residences for low-income seniors, are preparing for their annual bake sale in support of Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad.

The bake sale is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Harriet Bryan House community room.

Stop by and pick up a homemade cake, some tarts or even Chinese pork buns. Additional cakes and goodies have been donated by Chez Alice, The House of Cup Cakes and McCaffrey’s. In addition to baked goods and snacks, coffee, tea and light lunches will be available.

“We’re always so appreciative of the prompt attention we receive from the Rescue Squad, and this is our effort to show that appreciation and give something back,” said Elm Court resident Joyce Moffett, chair of the bake sale committee.

This year’s bake sale will be expanded to include Asian home made treats, a reflection of the housing community’s growing diversity.

“It’s always nice to receive recognition from the community we serve, said Frank Setnicky, director of operations for PFARS. "As a volunteer-led non-profit, we do rely on donations of time and money to deliver the highest quality services to everyone in Princeton. It’s a terrific gesture and I hope Princetonians come out to support it.”

Elm Court and Harriet Bryan House are located at 300 Elm Road in Princeton. Elm court opened in 1985 to serve Princeton’s low income residents aged 62 and older. Harriet Bryan House, an adjacent building which shares many facilities and programs with Elm Court, opened in 2007 to serve Princeton’s very low income residents aged 62 and older.
