The Bent Spoon Crowned Salsa Champ of Princeton 2012

Wednesday's event revealed community's enthusiasm for dance and a new Bent Spoon salsa flavor.

It was 'Salsa Slam,' where about 200 people came to taste and vote for Princeton’s best salsa and dance salsa on the plaza outside.

More than a dozen local businesses concocted their own salsas for the contest, including Nassau Inn, Eno Terra, , Tuscany, Mediterra, , , , , , , and .

Local foodies and salsa judges Sue Gordon, Judith Robinson, Dorothy Mullen and Pat Tanner declared taco sorbet as the Salsa Champ of Princeton 2012. People’s Choice winners were (first place), Eno Terra (second place), and a tie for third place between and .

“It was a great way for (these local businesses) to come out together and a great way for us to do community outreach,” Teen Services Librarian Susan Conlon said.

Out on the plaza, Henri Velandia of HotSalsaHot dance company demonstrated salsa dance with his sister, Claudia Palestini, and then two members of the dance company performed a choreographed routine for onlookers.

Velandia also gave the crowd a brief lesson on the basics of the salsa dancing.
