Record-Setting Princeton University Football Team Clinches Share of Ivy Crown

Princeton can win its first outright conference title since 1995 on Saturday.

The Princeton University football team set the Ivy League scoring record en route to at least a share of the conference title on Saturday.

The Tigers have scored 413 points this season with one game to go, according to goprincetontigers.com. They did so with a 59-23 win over Yale on Saturday.

The 59 points was also the most scored by a Princeton team in a game since the Tigers scored 60 in a win over Lafayette in 1951.

Princeton improved to 8-1 overall, 6-0 in conference play.

A win over Dartmouth (5-4, 4-2) on Saturday would give Princeton its first undefeated conference season since 1963 and first outright conference title since 1995.

The Dartmouth game will air live on NBC Sports Network.

Junior quarterback Quinn Epperly, who set an NCAA record by completing 29 consecutive passes in one game earlier this season, is within two rushing touchdowns of Keith Elias. Elias scored 21 in 1993, according to the University's online record book. Epperly has 19.

He is also two passing touchdowns behind Doug Butler, who threw 25 in 1983.

Against Yale, Epperly was 24-of-40 passing for 221 yards and three touchdowns. He had 10 rushes for 54 yards and a rushing touchdown.

The possible records don’t end there.

Senior wide receiver Roman Nelson is now one touchdown behind Phil Wendler, the career leader in touchdown receptions for Princeton.

Sophomore Dre Nelson ran the ball five times for 77 yards and two touchdowns, including a 42-yard score early in the game.
Senior defensive back Phil Bhaya, of Haddonfield, had nine tackles and a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown.

On special teams, junior cornerback Jakobi Johnson recovered a Yale onside kick and returned it 46 yards for a score in the first quarter.
