Rebecca Soni also won a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke on Monday.

Rebecca Soni won her first gold medal at the London Olympics and broke her world record time in the 200-meter breaststroke on Thursday.

The Plainsboro native pushed her way ahead and came out on top with a time of 2:19.59, ahead of Japan’s Satomi Suzuki by 1.13 seconds.

But this gold medal probably doesn’t come as a surprise to most, as to take Canada's Annamay Pierse spot for the title.
