Showing support for American Veterans of the Armed Forces, Toms River will hold the Ocean County Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11. Schools will not be in session that day, so all ages are encouraged to attend.

Similar to the Halloween Parade route, the Ocean County Veteran’s Day Parade begins at 9:30a.m. at the Toms River Shopping Center on Rt. 37, proceeding south on Main Street (Route 166)and then east onto Washington Street.

After the parade, there will be a ceremony held outside Toms River’s Town Hall at 33 Washington Street. A commemorative salute will begin at the 11th hour, at the 11th minute on the 11th day of November, which signifies the end of World War I, originally known as Armistice Day.

Showing your support for the Armed forces means a lot to us that are gone. You civilians thank us for what we do, I thank all the families of the deployed because I know how hard it is on my family while I am deployed! If you don't stand behind the troops, feel free to stand in front of us! SrA Albert Andrews 177th FW NJ Air National Guard Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan

Remember General Smedley D. Butler, United States Marine Corps, the greatest veteran of them all.
