Princeton University Ranked Ninth in the World

It was ranked ninth in the 2014Center for World University Rankings.

Princeton University is one of the Top 10 universities in the world, according to the 2014 rankings recently released by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

Princeton ranked ninth on the list. It was ranked third among Ivy League universities and seventh among American institutions.

The University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, both in the United Kingdom, were the only non-American universities ranked in the Top 10.

Harvard University was ranked No. 1 overall.

The CWUR uses the following criteria to determine its rankings:

1) Quality of Education, measured by the number of a university's alumni who have won major international awards, prizes, and medals relative to the university's size [25%]; Princeton ranked fifth in this area.

2) Alumni Employment, measured by the number of a university's alumni who currently hold CEO positions at the world's top companies relative to the university's size [25%]; Princeton ranked 16th in this area;

3) Quality of Faculty, measured by the number of academics who have won major international awards, prizes, and medals [25%]; Princeton was No. 3;
 
4) Publications, measured by the number of research papers appearing in reputable journals [5%]; Princeton was ranked 70th overall;

5) Influence, measured by the number of research papers appearing in highly-influential journals [5%]; Princeton was ranked 25th overall;

6) Citations, measured by the number of highly-cited research papers [5%]; Princeton was 19th overall;

7) Broad Impact, measured by the university's h-Index [5%]; Princeton was ranked 41st; and
 
8) Patents, measured by the number of international patent filings [5%]; Princeton scored its lowest ranking here, at 204.

Princeton scored 88.56 out of 100 percent.
