The Art Museum and McCarter Team Up!

McCarter Theatre brings their upcoming play "Travesties" to the Princeton University Art Museum.

Thursday night, McCarter Theatre collaborated with the Princeton University Art Museum, who hosted a fabulous free community event! McCarter’s next play Travesties, directed by Sam Buntrock, exams art and the artist, so what better place to have a ‘launch party’?

The Tom Stoppard play is very witty, and one of the most brilliant theater pieces of the last century. It takes place during the rise of Dada, the foundation of abstract art, which has led to postmodernism, pop art, and surrealism. PUAM certainly had all of the above on display for attendees to survey and enjoy. This is truly a world-class museum, and worth a visit. Did I mention admission is always free?

Antipasti and dessert, as well as wine and water were offered to guests for 30 minutes. Buntrock, the actors, PUAM and McCarter staff were introduced an thanked, then James Urbaniak (Henry Carr) and Sara Topham (Cecily) read a scene to whet our appetites of what’s awaiting us. Just what the doctor ordered… laughter!

Single tickets are for sale now. There’s an After Dark package with singer/songwriter Sarah Donner performing, and a Pride Night, both catered by Emily’s Cafe & Catering, as well as a Dinner and Theater package offering a three-course tasting menu at Eno Terra for foodies or those craving a social tie-in.

A little birdie told me that further collaborations are a possibility, so check the museum’s calendar for updates.
