Programs Help Drop Homeless Rate in Mercer County

The homeless rate dropped from 271 in 2007 to 71 in 2014, according to njtvonline.org.

The number of homeless families in Mercer County dropped by 200 over the last seven years, and Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes attributes the drop to several programs offered by the county, njtvonline.org reports.

Programs include Housing First, which places homeless people in homes and help them get their lives on track, according to the report. Another program, HomeFront, offers free furniture, job training for adults and literacy programs for children, among others, according to the report.
