The panel planned to debate the matter at its 7 p.m. Monday meeting.

Princeton Council planned to debate Monday whether to develop an ordinance that will be better regular the hours of retail businesses, restaurants and food establishments near residences.

The panel planned to debate the matter at its 7 p.m. Monday meeting.

In a June 4 letter, Lee Solow, director of planning, noted that the office has received a number of concerns and complaints regarding the hours of operation for busineses uses.

"The issue is often framed a a quality of life issue for residents living adjacent to retail business establishments, particularly during the late night and early morning hours," Solow said.

Complaints involve noise, litter, car doors slamming and crowds.

The letter recommends that an ordinance be developed to address the concerns and that council may want to consider limiting hours of operation to a 5 or 6 a.m. opening, and a closing to 12 midnight or 2 a.m.
