Obama Nominates Princeton Prof. for White House Council of Economic Advisors

Alan Krueger is a professor of economics and public affairs.

President Barack Obama on Monday nominated Princeton University economist Alan Krueger to chair the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Obama called Krueger one of the nation's leading economists and praised his work as both the Treasury's chief economist and its assistant secretary for economic policy.

Krueger is a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton and his work has focused on wages and the labor market, as well as the macroeconomic effects of education policy.

He served in the treasury in 2009 and 2010 and worked on job creation initives that included a hiring tax credit for small businesses and and Build America Bonds which made it easier for states and cities to borrow and invest money.
