The Safe Corridor grant program, which began in 2003, targets 14 ten-mile sections highways with a history of high crash rates. Funding comes in part from doubled moving violation fines along the designated Safe Corridors. Grant funding is allocated based on crash data, with more funding going to areas with the greatest need for continued enhanced enforcement measures.

Segments of Route 1, Route 9, Route 22, Route 40, Route 46, Route 47, Route 73 and Route 206 are receiving FY12 funding.

Grants can be used by municipalities to purchase enforcement equipment including police vehicles, radar equipment, computer hardware and software and salaries.  Click here for a complete list of grant recipients and amounts.

The Local Aid Bikeway program supports construction of bike paths and bike lanes.
