Dick Woodbridge Enters Race for Princeton Mayor

Woodbridge, a Republican, will face either Liz Lempert or Kevin Wilkes, both Democrats, in November.

Richard C. Woodbridge, former Mayor of Princeton Township and former Council President in Princeton Borough, officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of the newly consolidated Princeton.

"After hearing from many on both sides of the political aisle and listening to numerous citizen concerns, I have decided to enter the race for Mayor," Woodbridge said. "I believe now is the time for Princeton to elect someone with experience and fresh thinking, who believes in true inclusiveness and non-partisan cooperation."

"As the only candidate who has been elected to office in both municipalities, I believe I bring something very useful and unique to the table during this highly critical transition period."

His campaign slogan is, “A NEW PRINCETON – A BRIGHTER FUTURE.”

"We plan to run a positive campaign aimed at reducing taxes and improving municipal services - with an emphasis on independent and non-partisan thinking and new approaches to Princeton's serious challenges," Woodbridge said.

Woodbridge grew up in Princeton and attended the Nassau Street and Valley Road Schools and graduated from Princeton University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1965. He is a registered patent attorney and has maintained a patent and trademark practice in Princeton since 1973. He is a 20 year veteran of the Princeton Fire Department and has served in a variety of municipal positions including Police, Public Works and Fire Commissioner and also on numerous community boards.

Anyone in Princeton - Democrat, Republican or Independent - who is interested in helping on the campaign, bringing fresh thinking to municipal government and, maybe having a little fun too, is invited to email Dick Woodbridge directly at woodbridge4mayor@gmail.com.

He has been endorsed by the local Republican Municipal Committee and plans to provide a more detailed description of his vision for Princeton's future over the next few weeks.
