UPDATE: Princeton Professor Will Fight Theft Charges

John Mulvey allegedly stole more than 20 advertising signs from private property.

John Mulvey, a professor at Princeton University, is facing charges of theft after a business owner found recordings of him taking the signs.

Ted Horodynsky, owner of Princeton Computer Repairs, Tutoring and Digital Services, said that his signs "disappeared" from private properties where he has been contracted. Horodynsky has filed several police reports over the signs.

The signs have been valued at $471 total.

Horodynsky also alleges that the signs went missing after a traffic incident involving him and Mulvey.

Mulvey denied having stolen the signs. "I have no reason to do that," he told the Times of Trenton. "I have nothing against signs or capitalism."

"I think there was a mistake in the charges," Mulvey said. He claims he was merely picking up debris.

Police found the 21 signs in Mulvey's garage.
