Suspicious Suitcase Discovered in Township

Item removed from area by bomb squad without incident.

The state bomb squad was called to Riverside Drive West near Balsam Lane on Saturday after police were alerted to a suspicious package.

Township police discovered a black carry-on suitcase near the roadway at 3:49 p.m. and called the state poice Arson/Bomb Unit, which responded along with the Princeton Fire Department and Princeton First Aid Squad. Princeton Township Police secured the area by blocking various streets and detouring the traffic.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the state police declared the area safe. Patrols located bubble wrap and styrofoam material inside the suitcase. The area was secured for approximately one and half hours.
