Public Records Show What Happened the Morning Michael Kenwood Died

The driver of the abandoned vehicle Kenwood was trying to reach that morning notified police that the car had stalled and no police barricades were in place, records show.

after attempting a water rescue and a new report by Planet Princeton shows what happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 28. 

The Planet Princeton report, compiled through public records including police dispatch recordings, emergency recordings and investigation reports, reveals that flooding forced a New York couple to leave the Belle Mead home they were visiting. While attempting to relocate to Lawrenceville, the car stalled on Rosedale Road and the couple had to escape by climbing through the car's sunroof; When the couple reached the Nassau Inn in Princeton Borough, they notified borough police about the car.

The driver saw no road barricades at the intersection of Elm Road and Rosedale Road and interviews and video footage later confirmed that, although some law enforcement officials said they could have washed away, according to the Planet Princeton report

Although the township police and police crews knew about the abandoned Volvo, poor lighting and visibility made it difficult for emergency crews to identify the car as the same one reported by the New York couple, Planet Princeton reported. And there were reports of at least one other vehicle on the road. 

, Kenwood and EMT Peter Simon attempted to reach the vehicle that morning, but were forced to turn around. Kenwood was swept underwater and was rushed to the University Medical Center at Princeton. He died several hours later and was several days later.

The Planet Princeton report shows that the car Kenwood and Simon were trying to reach the morning of Aug. 28 was the same one that stalled on Rosedale Road and was reported to police. 

Township Police said a few days later that against the owner of the vehicle left on Rosedale Road.
