Princeton's Storm Impact: Few Outages, Some Flooding; More Snow Coming

After dealing with few power outages, Princeton's "emergency team" said crews will continue to work around the clock to have streets clear as more snow heads this way.

Alexander Street in Princeton, between Faculty Road and Canal Point Boulevard (West Windsor), was temporarily closed because of flooding Thursday night.

The road was later opened as local officials braced for as much as 4 to 6 inches of additional snow hitting the state overnight.

The state of emergency remains in effect, and local officials ask people to please adhere to this declaration as vehicles out traveling impact the state county and local snow and ice clearing efforts.

In addition, the local state of emergency remains in effect where people are also reminded to curtail driving and to also have your vehicles removed from the streets. All on-street parking is prohibited and vehicles parked on public roadways are subject to being towed.

There were two power outages in town, both of which have been resolved by PSE&G. This could change with the additional chance of higher winds and snow this evening.

If you experience an outage at your residence you are asked to contact PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734). If you see a wire down on your street please report that to the Police Department at 609-921-2100 and press '0'. Provide the location, a pole number and a cross street if possible. Please DO NOT call the police or 9-1-1 to report a power outage unless there is an associated emergency.

Princeton officials also announced:

If residents need a warming center or an area to recharge personal electronic items the Municipal Office building at 400 Witherspoon Street is open 24 hours a day. Access is available only through the Police Department entrance on the Valley Road side of the building.

Finally, residents are advised that trash collection for Thursday has been postponed and has been rescheduled for Friday. Municipal offices are closed today as are Princeton Public Schools. Please check back on the website for further updates. Periodic updates will be posted throughout the storm at www.princetonnj.gov
