Police Find Disabled Man Near Grandparents' House

Relative called police when 22-year-old relative wandered away from house at night.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 5:30 a.m., a resident of the 900 block of Mercer Street called police for assistance in locating her 22-year-old emotionally disturbed grandson who had walked away from the house the night before.

Police said the caller said her grandson, who was visiting from California, suffered from a mental disability and could not be located.

K-9 search teams from the Mercer County Sheriffs Department and the New Jersey State Police, along with officers from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, helped Princeton Township police check the area.

The 22-year-old, whose name is being withheld by police, was located within a mile of his grandparents' home.

He was medically evaluated at the scene and then transported by the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad to Capital Health Systems/Fuld for further treatment.
