Mercer County Woman Seriously Injured in Ridge Road Crash

A Princeton woman was also involved in the crash.

A 20-year-old Mercer County woman suffered serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident on Ridge Road Thursday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the unidentified victim was headed west on Ridge Road in a 2003 Lexus to her job in Princeton. The woman lost control of her vehicle when she came to a bend near Sassman Lane and her vehicle veered onto the right shoulder of the roadway, according to police.

The woman then attempted to get control of her vehicle, but she overcorrected and the car was spun back across the road into oncoming traffic that was headed east on Ridge Road, police said. At that point, the Lexus was struck broadside by a 2013 Nissan driven by a 44-year-old Princeton woman.

The 20-year-old Mercer County woman was taken by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The Princeton woman was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro where she was treated and released, police said.

The accident closed Ridge Road between Route 1 and Route 27 for about an hour.

The crash is currently under investigation.
