Five Bike Thefts Reported in Princeton Last Week

Please lock up your bikes.


Multiple bicycle thefts were reported in Princeton during the Fourth of July holiday week. 

"At this time there is nothing linking the bike thefts together," Police Sgt. Michael Cifelli said. 

The following bike thefts were reported: 

  • On July 2 at 9:18 p.m., a caller in the first block of Cleveland Lane reported that sometime overnight, someone entered their unlocked garage and stole a bike valued at $75. 
  • On July 3 at 7:20 p.m., a resident of Mulberry Road reported that sometime within the past hour, someone stole three bicycles from the front porch of their apartment. The victim found one bike on Nassau Street  later in the day. The value of the other two bikes is estimated at $550.
  • On July 3 at 9:15 a.m., the parent of a Princeton High School student reported that sometime between July 7-14, someone stole the teen's red and white Trek mountain bike from the PHS bike rack. The bicycle is valued at $550. 
  • On July 4 at 8:53 a.m., a caller in the first block of William Street reported that sometime overnight, someone stole a men's Trek mountain bike from the side of the house. The bike is valued at $400. 
  • On July 6 at 9:30 p.m., a caller reported that sometime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. that day, someone stole their unlocked bicycle from the bike rack at Community Park Pool on Witherspoon Street. The bike's value is estimated at $90.
