Fire Damages Herrontown Road Home

No one was home when the fire broke out.

An attic fire broke out in a home in the 100 block of Herrontown Road on Wednesday afternoon and firefighters had to to remove part of the side of the house in order to extinguish it.

When firefighters arrived, there were flames coming out of the attic's eaves, Mooney said. Crews erected a ladder and also broke down the home's front door to gain entry.

The blaze was under control within about 10-15 minutes, Mooney said.

He said the home will be outfitted with a weatherproof tarp to protect the interior and the front door will be resecured.

Officials knocked out power and gas to the home as a precaustion.

Crews from Princeton Fire Department, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Plainsboro Fire Department Rocky Hill Fire Department and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad responded to the blaze. A PFARS ambulance on its way to the fire was involved in an accident at Valley Road by the entrance to the Princeton Shopping Center, but no one was hurt, a PFARS representative said.
