Emergency Responders to Be Honored for Life-Saving Actions
The recognition and proclamation will be delivered at Monday's Princeton Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at 400 Witherspoon Street.
Eight first responders will be recognized at Monday's Council meeting for their heroic actions in saving the life of a woman who stopped breathing at Mediterra restaurant last month.
Honored will be Princeton Police Sgt. Joann Malta, Cpl. Marla Montague, Off. Stephen Lattin, Off. Michael Schubert and Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad members Jay Padulchick, Henry Pannell, David Feiner and Roy Xiao.

The proclamation to be presented Monday night reads as follows:
WHEREAS, On April 5, 2013 at 6:52 p.m. a victim fell unresponsive in a local Princeton Restaurant; and

WHEREAS Officers Mala, Montague, Lattin and Schubert, and PFARS members Padulchick, Pannell, Feiner and Xiao responded to the victim's aid recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and that the victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse; and
WHEREAS, The officers immediately began CPR and applied a police department Automatic Electronic Defibrillator to the victim; and
WHEREAS, The victim regained a pulse and was breathing prior to leaving the scene and is now recovering.
Now, Therefore, I, Liz Lempert, Mayor of Princeton, County of Mercer, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim that the citizens and municipality of Princeton recognize the life-saving actions taken by these officers and PFARS members and are grateful for their service to the department and community.
