Bus Driver Issued Summons for Careless Driving

The accident sent the driver and eight middle-school boys to the hospital with minor injuries.

 

The school bus driver involved in Tuesday's accident on Valley Road has been issued a careless driving summons by Princeton Township Police.  

Christine Walker, 43, of Hamilton, was driving the bus that veered off the road and crashed into a large tree, police said.

Walker and eight students from John Witherspoon Middle School were taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. All had minor injuries consisting mainly of bumps and bruises, police said. 

The accident happened at 3:23 p.m. as the 19 students, all boys, were being bused a few blocks from the middle school to the baseball field on Valley Road, next the Princeton Regional School District's administration building.

The bus struck a large tree and the impact left the right front end or entry side of the vehicle crushed. The damage was extensive enough to require the bus to be towed from the scene.
