Princeton Academy Book Fair Spreads Holiday Cheer

The Princeton Academy community spread its holiday cheer last week when it came together to support the Princeton Academy Parent Association’s (PAPA) Book Fair at the Princeton MarketFair Barnes and Noble.

From Princeton Academy student carolers and story time with librarian Ellen Dowling to a LEGO exhibit and a few pick-me-up coffee breaks, there was a little something for everyone who stopped by the bookstore on Dec. 6. The fundraiser served as a way to help support the School, but for PAPA, it was much more than that.

“In addition to being a fundraiser, the Barnes and Noble Book Fair was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to share with and support each other,” said Elizabeth Seruma, the president of PAPA.

Shoppers stopped to listen to the student choir, students bonded with friends and other children over the LEGO creations and parents enjoyed lattes, cappuccinos and hot coffees. Seruma said the parents also helped buy nearly 100 books for the School and classroom libraries that were on the faculty’s wish lists.

Many attendees also bought books to support the School’s book drive for the non-profit “Books Have Wings,” which donates books to children in need in the Appalachian area of Tennessee.
