Richard J. “Dick” Kiefer, 71, Local Carpenter

Dick Kiefer passed away on Nov. 11

Richard J. “Dick” Kiefer, 71, of Hamilton Township, died Friday, November 11, 2011 after “writing a new page in the treatment of lung cancer,” according to one of his doctors. Born and raised in Princeton, he moved to Hamilton in 1964.

After graduation from Princeton High School, Dick started an upholstery and drapery business. He soon continued the family carpentry tradition, working with Princeton Local 781 for 30 years before his retirement in 1999.

Richard had various interests including bowling, golfing, camping and square dancing. He was an active and much loved member of the Edinburg Road Chapel in Mercerville. Dick helped build many churches in the Dominican Republic through Meeting God in Missions, as well as making and donating hundreds of wood crosses to express and share his love for Jesus.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Carole A. Kiefer, parents Louis and Mary Kiefer and a brother Karl. Surviving are his wife Patricia C. (Pat) Kiefer, his son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Beth Kiefer of Doylestown, Pa., two grandchildren; Madeline and Zachary, two brothers; William and Anna Mae Kiefer and Louis Kiefer, two sisters; Mary and Barney Cooke and Anna Mayer, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Pat’s sons; Jerry and Rosa Ceria and Jeff and Rebecca Jo Ceria and their children; Jason, Elianna, Nadia and Julia.

Funeral services began on Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the Kimble Funeral Home followed by burial in Princeton Cemetery.
