Calling All Greater Princeton Area Farms, Farmer's Markets and Restaurants!

The Junior League of Great Princeton is creating its first cookbook in 30 years. In 2013-2014 the Junior League of Greater Princeton will be creating a cookbook with the theme (title TBD), “from our farms to your table.” This theme will highlight the strong agricultural histories of Pennsylvania and New Jersey with a special emphasis on products grown and raised by local farms and vendors. We would like to support the buy local effort. While the theme lends itself to a special focus on recipes that include some of the produce PA and NJ are known for, (tomatoes, corn, cranberries, etc.), we welcome all of your favorite recipes. You can find almost anything at farmer’s markets, and our goal is to have recipes that are simple and use farm fresh, locally grown/produced products.

We are making a special appeal to farms, individuals who work with farmer’s market, and restaurants whose menu consists predominantly of local goods and produce (or, even better, if you grow your own!), as we would like to provide exposure for their business in the cookbook.  If you choose to participate we ask that you provide a recipe and a few words on the history of your work with the farmer’s market or about the produce you are using if from local farmers.  A professional photographer will come out to your venue and take a photograph of you and this photograph, along with a few words about your business, and your recipe will be included in the cookbook.

There is no cost to you to participate, a wonderful advertising opportunity and a way to support your local community. Deadline for response is November 15, 2013. Kindly email cookbook@jlgp.org.

The cookbooks will be sold in PA and NJ and available online through our website, on Amazon.com and in Kindle version and will serve as a fundraiser to support the programs we deliver in NJ and PA in the areas of women and children’s issues.
