Giving Thanks, One Day at a Time

Area resident Judy Shepps Battle shares her awe and gratitude for the gift of life that infuses hope on this brisk Thanksgiving Day

My thanks today -- as every day -- begins with continued awe at the gift of life so freely given regardless of whether I "deserve" it by my actions or thoughts.

I am so grateful for the model of unconditional love and compassion that the universe (or any of the names we assign to represent the divine power) offers as well as the challenges/lessons that come along with it.

Now that I don't "work" for a living, it is a crystal clear representation of the human qualities I still need to learn and live.

I'm not sure I have the hours, days, or years left to fully breathe this energy into every cell but I do know that I am trying and will continue to try (even when...especially when...I get totally distracted by life's bumps in the road and focus on fear instead of faith).

I am especially grateful for all my human and animal friends and loved ones who listen, understand, and continue to share their journey and for the privilege of being able to observe my kids and their kids (human and animal) find their purpose and peace.

At least this is what it feels like on a cloudless and cool frosty morning here in Central NJ USA. What are you grateful for?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
