Seuls en Scène Presents "L'Épreuve" by Marivaux
The week long "Seuls en Scène - Princeton French Theater Festival" begins with “L’Épreuve” by Marivaux directed by Clément
Hervieu-Léger de la Comedie-Francaise. “L’Épreuve is the first play that I ever wanted to
put on. The story of this young sick man wondering about love while not knowing
whether he’ll live or die, touched me deeply from the first time I read it.
Marivaux’s discretion, his humor, and the precision of his prose, which enables
us to hear silences and unpronounced words; all that resonated uniquely with
me.” – Clément Hervieu-Léger
