Princeton Day School Presents the Upper School Musical: GYPSY
Princeton Day School is thrilled to announce the Upper School winter musical, Gypsy, the classic Broadway musical, which will run from Thursday, February 21st through Saturday, February 23rd in the McAneny Theater. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, February 4th, at www.pds.org/boxoffice.
Gypsy premiered on Broadway in 1959 and was first performed on the McAneny stage at Princeton Day School in March 1995. With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Arthur Laurents, the musical chronicles the rise of young Louise as she is thrust into stardom by her aggressive mother, Mama Rose, and features such hits as “Everything's Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “Together Wherever We Go.”
Directed by Artist-in-Residence Stan Cahill, Gypsy also features choreography by Ann Robideaux, costumes by Deb Sugarman, music direction by Andrew Schmidt and scenic design by Jeff Van Velsor. Mr. Cahill remarked, “Along with the student cast and crew, this production will feature set design by Paul Batterman ‘13 and seven student pit musicians—a record for PDS.”GYPSY performance dates:
