Fall Reception, NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund (LDF)
Thirty-seventh annual Princeton Committee reception to support the work of the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund. Program will feature a panel discussion of Election 2012 with top LDF attorneys, including Director-Counsel Debo P. Adegbile (Director-Counsel), Elise C. Boddie (Litigation Director), and Ryan Haygood (Political Participation Group Director). Program will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a reception catered by Main Street with music by the Bob Smith Trio.
In 2009, Mr. Adegbile won a Supreme Court ruling upholding a core provision of the federal Voting Rights Act. The panel discussion will include analysis of the recent spate of vote suppression laws and their effects on the election.
Proceeds will benefit the work of LDF which was founded in 1940 under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall to press for the civil and constitutional rights of African-Americans and other people of color.
