Where to Cut Your Own Christmas Tree

Where will you go to get your tree?

With less than a month to go until Christmas many people will be going down into their basements or up into their attics to set up their tree for the holiday season.

For those people brave enough to want to cut down their own real trees the New Jersey Department of Agriculture has put together a list of local farms that have plenty of options to choose from.

Bear Swamp Tree Farm, Trenton

Carlson Christmas Tree Farm, Lambertville

From Rtes. 95/295 take Rte. 31 N, go 7.5 mi. Turn left on Rte. 518W, take 2nd left onto New Rd., farm 1 mi. on left.

Species: 200 trees; Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Douglas-fir, Concolor Fir, Fraser Fir

McLaughlin Tree Farm, Robbinsville

NJ Turnpike to Exit 8 for Hightstown – Rte. 33W to Rte. 539S.  4 miles south from Peddie School on Rte. 539.  OR Rte. 195 to Exit 8 Hightstown/Allentown north 2.1 miles to farm on left.

Species: 3,500 trees; Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, White Spruce, White Pine, Douglas-fir, Concolor Fir, Canaan Fir, Korean Fir, Turkey Fir, Nordmann Fir, Serbian Spruce, Meyer Spruce, Engelman Spruce

From Trenton, Rte. 29 N to Pleasant Valley Rd. right, 1 mile on right. From Princeton/Hopewell, Rte. 579 N (Bear Tavern Road) to Pleasant Valley Road on left 3.5 miles to #47.  Route 31 N Pennington/Flemington to Rte. 623 W onto Pleasant Valley Road 4.8 miles on right.
