McCarter Theatre presents The Select, based on the novel "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway. Features a cutting wit, doomed romance and a live bullfight, 8 p.m.  

Saturday

Trinity Church Rummage Sale, 9 a.m. to3 p.m. 

Stop by the Princeton University Art Museum between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and

Celebrate fall's favorite harvest with Applefest! at Whole Foods Market Princeton. Features demos (i.e. apple dumplings), live music and an opportunity for kids to create their own scary shrunken appleheads, Noon. 

Princeton Shopping Center presents a Spooktacular Howloween Costume Contest, parade and party. The costume contest and parade for all ages and families begins at 11 a.m,, followed by pumpkin painting, scarecrow and mask making. A pet parade begins at 1 p.m.  

Parents are invited to bring children 4 years old through 5th grade to a Halloween Party/ Parents' Afternoon Out, featuring supervised games and crafts. Please don't wear costumes, as they may get in the way of some of the activities. Old clothes and pre-registration encouraged, 1 p.m.

 Featuring a drop-off program for children, a special needs simulation and a speaker who will discuss how he overcame his special needs to achieve his goals. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

He will sign copies of his cookbook and prepare classic English pub food, 1 p.m.

Economist, columnist author and Princeton University Professor Paul Krugman will discuss the foreign and domestic financial situation and its impact on national elections, 4 p.m.
