Gov., Wife to Celebrate National Dine Out Day in Princeton

Mary Pat Christie will visit Winberie's Mediterra and Teresa's before making a surprise appearance at a fourth local restaurant with her husband.

Gov. Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie will complete National Dine Out Day in front of TV cameras in Princeton, the Governor’s Office announced Tuesday night.

Before that, the First Lady will visit three restaurants in the town.

National Dine Out Day is an initiative in which participating restaurants will donate a percentage of their sales on Wednesday, June 19, to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

After a pair of interviews, Mary Pat Christie will visit restaurants in New York and Hudson County before making her first appearance in Princeton, at Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar at 1 Palmer Square East, at approximately 4:35 p.m.

She is then scheduled to visit Mediterra Restaurant and Tavern, at 29 Hullfish Street, at 4:55 p.m. Her final stop will be at Teresa Caffe, at 23 Palmer Square East, at 5:15 p.m., before being joined by Gov. Christie at a yet-to-be named location in Princeton, at 5:30 p.m.

The Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund has joined with American Express, Coca-Cola and over 2,000 restaurants nationwide for National Dine Out Day.

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, Buddy “The Cake Boss” Vallastro, chef Emeril Lagasse, restaurateur David Burke, U2 lead singer Bono, TV Host Anthony Bourdain, the Food Network, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and other celebrities are helping to promote the day nationwide.

Superstorm Sandy struck the state on Oct 29 of last year, causing damage across New Jersey.

To date, the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund claims to have raised more than $37 million to help with services including home rebuilding, mold remediation, financial and legal counseling, economic development and social services.
