Last year according to the Internal Revenue Service, working Mercer County residents received over $47 million in EITC refunds for 2012.  Receiving an EITC refund for 2013, which can reach over $6,000 per household, depending on income and family size, is a vital way for low-wage earners to reduce the great gap between their income and their housing costs. The Earned Income Tax Credit provides extra dollars for 3 or more children; everyone can start saving by splitting their return dollars into regular checking, saving accounts or purchasing saving bonds.
