Shop Local TODAY, Help Hurricane Relief

Forty-nine Princeton businesses have pledged to donate a percentage of sales to relief efforts, particularly on the Jersey shore.

In an effort to aid the victims affected by Hurricane Sandy, particularly in the New Jersey coastal area, the Princeton business community joins together and announces the launch of the Princeton Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive on November 20, from 9 a.m. to midnight.

The close-knit Princeton community has a long-standing history of supporting those in need, and will do so again in this critical endeavor.

On Tuesday, November 20, customers are invited to shop and dine locally at participating businesses in the Princeton region. A percentage of sales from that dedicated day will be donated to New Jersey coastline local community relief efforts, as well as the American Red Cross. Princeton area restaurants, banks, markets, retailers and more will take part in the fundraising project.

"Our hearts continue to go out to those affected by this destructive storm," said Jack Morrison, president of JM Group, who is spearheading the drive.  “We will be working with charitable organizations in the New Jersey areas that were hit the hardest, donating funds to help rebuild these impacted communities. I am so proud to be part of such a giving group of businesses such as these.”

Though the storm has passed, it is predicted that the Jersey coast will face months, possibly years, of rebuilding and recovery.  The drive hopes to reinforce the notion that there is much mending to be done, and that together a community can be a powerful advocate.

Businesses are encouraged to give to the following organizations: Samaritan's Purse,American Red CrossThe Salvation ArmyHurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund and The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
