"Velveteen Rabbit" Kicks Off Kids Series at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Oct. 19

“What is Real? When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real.”  It’s all about the love, when Theatre IV presents “The Velveteen Rabbit” at Mercer County Community College’s Kelsey Theatre Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.  Kelsey Theatre is located on the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Based on the beloved children’s book by Margery Williams, this delightful stage musical combines the power of childhood play with the ageless need for unconditional love. Written by Thomas Hammond, with music and lyrics by Ron Barnett, this production boasts lovely songs and detailed period costumes that will transport young audiences to the beginning of the 20th century and a time of innocence and wisdom that has much to say about the value of true friendship.

Founded in 1975, Theatre IV is a nonprofit, professional theater that seeks to benefit children, families and schools with innovative, educational theatrical productions. Based in Richmond, Va., the company tours throughout 31 states and the District of Columbia.
