Take a Platform Tennis Refresher Clinic

Open casting call for Jack and the Beanstalk at the Arts Council of Princeton. The production will be performed in February. All ages interested in joining in on stage or helping out backstage should attend at least one of the three open workshops. (the final workshop will be Oct. 15). 6 p.m. 

The Princeton Recreation Department offers free platform tennis refresher clinics for both newcomers and veteran players. Registration is required by contacting Vikki Caines at caines@princetonnj.gov or at 609-921-9480. 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. 

In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra presents a talk by Laura M. Giles, curator of prints and drawings at The Princeton University Art Museum. Giles will discuss the significance of the museum’s African-American art collection, touching upon the work of renowned African-American artist Jacob Lawrence. In advance of the PSO's Oct. 6 concert. Princeton Public Library, Community Room, 7 p.m.

A screening of five documentary films focused on wildlife conservation issues- written, directed, shot and edited on location in Kenya.  A conversation with the student and faculty filmmakers, a musical performance, and reception will follow the screening.  Garden Theater on Nassau Street, 7:30 p.m.
