FREE
The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will hold another in its series of free walking tours of the D&R Canal on Saturday, June 9.
The walk will be along the canal feeder between Bull’s Island State Park and Prallsville.
The three-mile walk includes several historic canal-related structures including the Wickecheoke Creek and spillway, the Lockatong Creek and spillway and the guard lock at Bull’s Island. There is the opportunity for an extension of the walk about a half-mile to Stockton. After the walk, participants may cross the pedestrian bridge over the Delaware River at Bull’s Island to visit the locks on the Delaware Canal in Pennsylvania.
Canal Watch board member Bob Barth will conduct the walk and provide commentary.
Meet 10 a.m. at the Bull’s Island State Park parking lot nearest to Route 29. Bull’s Island is located between the towns of Stockton and Frenchtown. Carpools will be arranged to allow a one-way walk.
For further information and weather-related updates, call Mr. Barth at 201-401-3121 or e-mail barths@att.net.
