On Monday, July 30, 2012 Princeton Community Village (PCV) proudly celebrated 11 residents who are recipients of 2012 JAHMA Scholarships. Dr. Bruce Johnson, Administrator of the JAHMA Foundation presented all the winners to a large crowd at the PCV Club House composed of Princeton Community Housing (PCH) present and new Executive Directors, Sandra Persichetti, and Edward Truscelli, Board Members, staff, PCV residents, recipient’s friends and families, and community supporters who gathered to celebrate the success of hard working students. Dr. Johnson acknowledged the amount of responsibility, hard work, and diligence each recipient has, among the “unique diversity of all the fine schools and majors each of them represent”.
The JAHMA Foundation established by New Jersey Affordable Housing Management Association, offers scholarships to outstanding students living at a JAHMA member “affiliated property”. The scholarships range from $500.00-$3,000.00, and are offered to high school graduates, individuals holding a GED planning to continue post-secondary studies, and or, adults, and senior citizens pursuing additional educational opportunities. For the past 11 consecutive years, residents from Princeton Community Village have been awarded scholarships from The JAHMA Foundation. The total amount awarded this year to PCV students was $16,800 that is approximately 18% of the amount awarded statewide. The winners this year were, Carol Auerbach, Syed Faran, Ali, Cynthia Fuentes, Ashley Guzman, Phoebe Hanna, Tori Julios, Kumal Kazim, Murtaza Kazim, Julio Lopez, Nicole Lopez, and Courtney Sackey.
