Dancing with the Stars...in Princeton!

Val Chmerkovskiy of the hit ABC show will teach a master dance class in Princeton on Dec. 14

 

Want to learn some new moves with a dance pro?

Get ready because Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is coming to Princeton on Dec. 14.

Chmerkovskiy will teach a 45-minute master class at the in the Princeton Shopping Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. The class is open to the public and costs $36 per person.

“Val professional ballroom dancer and he’s been on the show multiple times and he’ll be here as a celebrity,” said Irina Smile, an employee at the . “He’s coming to actually coach our students and he’s also going to coach a master class.”

Val, from Ukraine, began dancing at age 7 and has been a U.S. dance champion 14 times during his 15-year dance career, according to his online bio on Dancing with the Stars.

The brother of Dancing with the Stars pro Maxim Chmerkovskiy. Val appeared on the popular dance show first as a guest dancer and then as a pro.

“It’s a celebrity coming to town,” Smile said. “It’s exciting, people look forward to it, there’s glamour and movement and you learn new things.”

So why is Val coming to Princeton?

The owner of the , Ilya Ifraimov, is a friend with Chmerkovskiy family. He and Maks became friends when they competed against each other in international dance competition. When Ilya got married, Maks was the best man at his wedding.

Now Val will make an appearance at Ilya’s studio in Princeton.

“He’s a fabulous dancer, a fabulous person, a very humbler person,” Ilya said of Val, who has won numerous dance championships and is currently the U.S. Amateur Latin Champion with partner Daria Chesnokova.
