The proposal to merge, which has been on the ballot several times in the past, was endorsed by the Princeton Consolidation and Shared Services Study Commission.
According to the commission's report, full consolidation of the two municipalities would save Princeton taxpayers about $3.16 million annually. The municipalities already share numerous services, including a regional school district, a library and planning and health boards.
Some have questioned the accuracy of those savings with the additional cost to extend the borough’s solid waste pickup throughout the township.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday

Unofficial results are in showing Consolidation has passed in both Princeton Borough and Princeton Township, with a Democratic sweep of elected officials in both the borough and the township. Bernie Miller, Sue Nemeth, Heather Howard, Barbara Trelsdad all elected or returned to office. Yina Moore is the new mayor.

I would have been shocked if it wasn't a Democratic sweep. I am a bit surprised by the Consolidation thought that would never happen. I hope it actually saves the proposed money for taxpayers.
