Driver Charged After Collision Injures Bicyclist

Police said 72-year-old hurt in accident near Princeton Shopping Center.

A Pennsylvania man was charged with failure to yield at an intersection after township police said his car struck and injured a bicyclist at 1:21 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17.

Princeton Township Police said the cyclist, Claude Pepino, 72, of Constitution Drive, Princeton, was on Valley Road crossing North Harrison Street when she was struck by a Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Douglas Valdez, 33, of Morrisville, Pa.

Police said Valdez turned left out of Princeton Shopping Center when he struck the bicyclist. Pepino was thrown from her bicycle and onto the hood of the car, suffering injury to her nose and left ankle.

Pepino was transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton where she was treated for her injuries and later released.
